It's sad that, in this country, big money thieves are adored and revered to an extent that they're considered heroes in their backyards, instead of being shunned and treated as pariahs. Those who have been mentioned in mega scandals, involving millions or billions of taxpayers money, are even more feared and respected here. We even defend them as "mwizi wetu!" In countries like China, they are hanged or shot in a public arena, while in Japan they commit suicide due to the immense shame that will hang over their families, like an ominous cloud, for generations.
After his triumphant entry into Parliament in 1992, Hon.Obwocha teamed up with other young and smart opposition politicians, in Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's Ford Kenya, such as Raila Odinga, the late Kijana Wamalwa, Jim Orengo, Mukhisa Kituyi and Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o, just to name but a few, to give dictator Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi sleepless nights.
Listen guys, the law is totally blind to physical attributes of any culprit and too much sentimentalism. Whether ugly or angelically beautiful, they all get treated equally before the law. The courts will only analyze facts surrounding the crime in question, in order to establish the motive of the suspect beyond reasonable doubt. Stabbing a person once might be an accident but 25 times, NO! That's premeditated murder. Kitchen knives are not kept in the bedroom. She knew exactly what she wanted to do when she went for that knife.
When will Kenyans wake to the reality that there is no messianic figure, who will come from outside, to change the status quo in this country? After every five years, we wake up at dawn to elect known thieves, drug barons and incorrigibly corrupt individuals to high office, just because they come from our tribes, then we expect people from outside the country to help us! How?
Whatever Dr Ndii's motive was, when he aptly described what the sudden surge in unearthing the rampant looting in the Jubilee government is all about, during a recent appearance on KTN's #CheckPoint; one thing is clear: it's a very difficult time to be William Ruto, if he is indeed targeted.
Nairobi, let alone City Hall isn't big enough to accommodate those two phenomenally huge egos. The experiment with Igathe confirmed to us that Sonko will always run the show regardless of who his deputy is. Miguna is known to have no breaks when it comes to speaking his mind. He spares nobody. It doesn't matter whether the person on the receiving end is his boss or junior. He cares less about the feelings or consequences that his views might trigger.
Sonko's move to appoint Miguna Miguna is a bold flash of the middle finger in the eyes of the Mount Kenya fraternity which has been silently but viciously fighting him in Nairobi. But he isn't alone in this scheme. Sonko is a valuable player in one of the two emerging Jubilee camps. His political godfather in Jubilee is well known. Sonko is one of the main strikers in the Hustler team.
And just like that, the previous issue is instantly consigned to the archives of history. Nobody gives a hoot about it thereafter. If Kenyans were to be wild animals, they would be warthogs. Ngiri. This animal with prominently protruding teeth has the shortest memory that you can ever think of. If you kick it so hard, it will run away at full speed for one minute, and then suddenly forget that you hit it and come straight back to you as if nothing happened!
However, the bottom line is; the "boy shaod" will be getting tonnes of free marketing in the next few days. Even those who have never heard of his existence will be seeking to know him better and probably download some of his songs. Ideally, that kind of marketing could cost several tens of millions. In other words, Ringtone Apoko will be riding on the back of Zari Hassan - the boss lady's fame for a while, not only in Kenya but in the entire of East Africa and beyond. Get the point?
