THE LITTLE POEM, I COMPOSED FOR MY BEAUTIFUL NIECE JUANITA, THAT MOVED PEOPLE TO TEARS

FARE THEE WELL “SOKORO”

IMG_0736

If we had the power, we could hold the hands of time,
So that you could be with us, if only for a few more years. But all we can say now is,
-Fare thee well sokoro-

You lived for a century, with a decade on top,
Raised a small clan, spanning five generations; of which I belong to the fourth, but still were we ready to let you go? NO! The only thing we can afford to say now is,
-Fare thee well sokoro-

We loved you sooo much Ondieki, but it would appear that, the almighty God loved you more. Now that you have gone to be with Him, we can only make you proud, by carrying on with your good work on earth. That is the best way we can afford to say,
-Fare thee well sokoro-

The angels in heaven must be celebrating, the arrival of a great warrior of faith, now watching down over his small clan, and admiring the products of his genes. You might have physically departed from us, but you will always be here with us; right here in our hearts, though all of us must still say,
-Fare thee well sokoro-

I have no doubt that, just like the great apostle Paul, when you breathed your last, you must have said: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. CAN EACH OF US SEATED HERE CONFIDENTLY SAY THIS, IF YOU WERE TO BE RECALLED BY YOUR MAKER TODAY?
That is your food for thought. But as for me, I am pretty sure I will.
And all of us can now say,

-FARE THEE WELL SOKORO-

******THANK YOU******
